The range of fabrics offered by the modern market is extensive, multifaceted, huge and multicolored. Its range allows you to choose the material for sewing any textile product. Its width and depth allow you to choose by:

  • type - natural, synthetic or combined;
  • mind - cotton, wool, silk, etc.;
  • purpose - for bed linen, home textiles, outerwear, etc.;
  • characteristics - color, price, density, etc.

The range of choice of cotton fabrics in terms of density is quite wide - from 55 g/m2 to 150 g/m2. That allows you to pick up and buy this popular natural material for the production of textiles for almost any purpose. The average rate is 115 g/m2.

The density of cotton often depends on the country of origin. This simplifies the choice of material at the stage of planning the tailoring of a particular product.

Density and manufacturer

Density as an important indicator of cotton fabric, in turn, directly depends on the country of origin. The main demand in the Ukrainian market is for fabrics from Turkey, China, India.

It so happened that Turkish cotton is denser. It is more resistant to use and washing. Most often, Turkish-made fabrics are used to sew things designed for high intensity of exploitation:

  • quality bedding - including for the hotel business;
  • kitchen and home textiles;
  • clothing, including underwear, etc.

Turkish cotton is suitable for sewing all kinds of textiles. However, this is not the most accessible and cheap material.

Indian and Chinese cotton are more affordable and generally less dense. It is much cheaper, thinner and softer. Delicate bed and underwear, pleasant to the touch nightgowns, light summer clothes, etc. are sewn from it.

Products made from Chinese and Indian cotton are popular in Ukraine. Less dense cotton fabric is easy to wash. She is easy to iron. It is not designed for high intensity of use, but it is great for making good, delicate, and most importantly affordable textiles of almost all types.

The qualities of cotton fabric allow tailoring of things of various functional purposes. It can be dense, wear-resistant fabrics for sewing jeans. It can be a delicate, thin material - ideal for elegant delicate linen. Due to its hygroscopicity, naturalness, ease of use and care, a significant part of textiles is sewn from cotton.
