Velor, velvet and corduroy are visually similar fabrics with a fleecy surface. All of them are aesthetic and effective. They are used for the implementation of a variety of design projects. However, despite the first visual impression of similarity, these fabrics are functionally different.
Velours
Woven from woolen or cotton threads. Yarn production technology - woolen spinning. This ensures its softness, tenderness and fluffiness. It is often used to create upholstered furniture. Velor has an optimal combination of strength, durability and aesthetics.
There are several types of velor:
- smooth;
- embossed;
- shaped;
- corrugated;
- stretch velor, etc.
Synthetic fibers may be added to the fabric. This gives it elasticity, which is widely used in the creation of various types of clothing - both for everyday worries and for "going out". Velvet
Dense, aesthetic, pleasant to the touch material. It absorbs moisture well and allows air to pass through. It turns out thanks to the interlacing of five threads - four form the basis of the fabric, the fifth is the pile. Can be 100% silk or include:
- cotton;
- viscose;
- wool;
- synthetic fibers.
Velvet is used in the manufacture of upholstered furniture, stylish clothes, home textiles. Practically not used when sewing outerwear. This is an aristocratic, capricious fabric that requires careful and manual care.
Corduroy
Corduroy is an elegant and unpretentious fabric. It can be of different colors and shades. The main visual characteristic of the fabric is the thick pile and longitudinal grooves on the obverse.
Corduroy is used in a variety of areas of life.
It is used in sewing clothes. Corduroy is durable, wear-resistant, does not lose its qualities when washed, and can be restored.
Corduroy is used in the production of upholstered furniture upholstery, car interior covers, and even curtains.
Originally, corduroy is 100% cotton material. But in modern conditions, it is pure (100% cotton), synthetic and mixed.
